About Chelsea Hickey

My "Why"

My first real photographs were taken in my high school photography class, on film, developed by me in the darkroom (if you can believe that!). At the time I had a regular babysitting job, and my favorite subject was my 2-year-old charge. I photographed her every chance I got, much to the delight of her parents.

That early obsession turned into a BFA from Alfred University School of Art and Design. Between studying at school and abroad, I spent years training my eye for composition, color, and how to capture real emotion in a single frame.

But here's what really keeps me doing this: I love knowing I'm creating something that will matter long after the session is over. I picture you, twenty years from now, sitting with these photographs, remembering exactly how small those hands were and how it felt to be in that season of life.

That's when photographs stop being pretty pictures and become priceless. It's why I focus on personality and connection, and why I turn those moments into artistic heirlooms your family will treasure for generations.

When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me traveling, eating good food, and making memories of my own with my husband and two boys (who, for the record, are very patient photo subjects. Mostly.)
