Luxury Newborn Sessions

Newborn portraits designed around your family’s comfort

Choose a relaxed in-home session or the artistry of the studio. Every experience is fully guided and tailored to preserve your baby’s first chapter with timeless images.

Tiny toes, soft cheeks, sleepless nights... the newborn stage passes fast.

Your portraits will hold onto what memory can’t.

Time is already flying—and whether Baby’s here or still on the way, you’re probably realizing just how fast everything is changing. Those tiny toes, sleepy grins, and early days of figuring it all out… they won’t last long.

You want to remember this stage, but you also want to feel taken care of in the process—not overwhelmed or wondering what to do next.

That’s exactly why I designed my Signature Custom Newborn Sessions to be personal, relaxed, and fully guided.

I’ll walk you through everything - helping you prep your space, choose outfits, feel confident in front of the camera, and actually enjoy the experience. You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect home or a baby who follows a schedule.

I’ve got you!

I’ve never had a family say, “We shouldn’t have done this.” But I’ve heard so many say they wish they had.

Let’s make sure you have something to hold onto from this wild, beautiful stage.

Imagine holding your baby years from now and seeing portraits that take you right back to those first days - the tiny details, the quiet connection, the story of how your family began...

We’re so glad we chose Chelsea for our newborn photos. Her package included in-home wardrobe planning, location scouting, hair and makeup, which was such a confidence boost for this postpartum mama and photo selection support. We didn't have to leave the house, which felt really daunting in the first few weeks postpartum.

She's incredibly professional, detail-oriented, and captured our family (including our inquisitive cats) beautifully. She was flexible when we needed to move our shoot due to our daughter's delay in arrival and made us feel so comfortable during the shoot. We especially loved that she embraced our request for bold, vibrant colors instead of the usual beige baby vibe that's on trend at the moment. I didn't want standard swaddled sleeping baby photos and boy did she deliver. Her documentary style is exactly what I was looking for.

I highly recommend Chelsea for anyone looking for high quality photos to last a lifetime!

FAQ's

My baby is already over a week. Is it too late for a Newborn Session?

Nope! You're in luck because the best thing about natural sessions in that Baby gets to be themself! Posed newborns need to be sleepy, and therefore very new in order squish them into all those little positions, but for us we're going au natural. An "older" newborn is typically more awake and more alert which allows for more opportunity of shots with connection and engagement.

And, my favorite part is that waiting gives you time to settle in and figure things out a bit before a lady with a camera comes through the door!

I photograph newborns all the way up to 8 weeks, but I find the sweet spot to be 3-5 weeks.

What about if baby is older than 8 weeks? No problem! "New Baby Sessions" are very similar!

My house is small. Can we still use it?

Absolutely! I've shot in everything from spacious homes with cathedral ceilings to tight Boston condos to basement apartments. With a little creativity we can always make it work!

What if my house doesn't have good light?

No problem—I bring it with me. While I love using natural light when it’s available, I also bring professional lighting that mimics daylight in a soft, flattering way. So whether your space is full of windows or on the darker side, your photos will still look clean, natural, and beautifully lit.

Do I need to get anything for my baby to wear?

Don’t worry about a thing—I bring everything we’ll need for your newborn, right to your home. That includes soft wraps, cozy blankets, a curated selection of timeless baby outfits in a variety of colors, and simple accessories like bonnets and bows if you’d like them. You’ll get to see samples during your in-home style and concept consultation, and we’ll talk through things like color schemes and overall vibe so everything feels cohesive and personal. You don’t need to buy or prep anything unless there’s a special item you want to include—I'll take care of the rest so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

I'm so awkward in front of the camera. How will I know what to do?

Don't stress! One great thing about this type of session is you just get to be yourself! But if you have insecurities or just want some direction, I've got you! For lifestyle photos I will tell you where to go, where to look, and adjust things like hair and posture and we can use angles and tricks to mask any areas you'd rather not highlight.  For documentary you're typically so busy with the activity that you forget I'm there, and that's the way we want it!

Do you know how to handle a baby?

Yes I do! I do a lot of it and I take safety very seriously! I've been doing this for close to 10 years and have 2 children of my own. But remember, we're not posing Baby, so we aren't typically putting them in any positions they wouldn't normally be in. I also don't handle your baby the entire time - usually mainly at the beginning when I'm wrapping and positioning them for details shots. My wrapping technique is very safe and babies usually love it and settle right down and take a nap. And the rest of the time they'll be in your arms!

How does a studio session compare to in-home?
The studio experience is simpler and more streamlined focusing on family connection through lifestyle images as well as studio work. It’s perfect if you’d like the ease of coming to a set space with no prep at home. The studio is set up to look clean and timeless, so you can just arrive, relax, and know that everything is ready for you.

If you’re looking for a more authentic documentation of your home, nursery, or everyday family rhythms, the in-home session is the way to go.

What do I need to bring to the studio?
Not much! The studio is stocked with wraps, blankets, simple baby outfits, and accessories. If you’d like, you can also bring a special family heirloom, a favorite swaddle, or anything meaningful you want included. For parents and siblings, I’ll provide wardrobe guidance ahead of time so everyone looks cohesive and comfortable.

How long does a studio session last?
Most studio newborn and family sessions last about 90-120 minutes. That gives us plenty of time for wrapping and calming your baby, moving through the shots and allowing for any necessary breaks like quick feedings or diaper changes.  If Baby needs breaks we’ll take them—everything is baby-led.

Can siblings or grandparents join in studio sessions?
Yes! The studio is designed for newborns, immediate family, and even grandparents if you’d like to include them. Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan the flow of the session.
