Boston Newborn Photographer
In-Home Newborn Photography | Lifestyle & Documentary

"Chelsea blew us away with her talent- she truly is an incredibly gifted photographer with an eye for capturing beautiful moments, natural expressions all while getting the lighting and angles just perfect. We are so pleased with final products of our family shoot and feel so thankful to have these precious moments captured to enjoy for years and years to come! "

A newborn experience designed to be special, not stressful.

Every detail handled, so you can focus on your family.

Home visit, custom shot list, and wardrobe assistance, all planned in advance.

Pro hair & makeup on the day.

Awkward-free posing guidance.

We plan. We prep. We guide. You enjoy your baby.

What makes this different from a typical newborn session?

Most newborn photography consists of a couple of hours in front of a camera and a gallery link you'll plan to eventually do something with. This is the opposite of that.

We plan the wardrobe and shot list together beforehand. I visit your home so nothing's improvised on the day. You show up looking (and feeling) like yourself, hair and makeup done. And when it's over, your images become wall art or a beautiful heirloom album - designed, printed, and in your hands - not a folder you'll rediscover in three years.

Because you have enough on your plate.

LEARN MORE IN THE FAQ's

Tiny toes. Soft cheeks. Sleepless nights. The newborn stage disappears fast - usually right around the time you finally figure out swaddling. As a Boston area in home newborn photographer, I help families slow all of it down, if only for an afternoon.

Whether your baby's already here or still cooking, you're probably already noticing how fast the days are moving. This stage doesn't last, but the right newborn photos let you hold onto exactly how it felt.

You don't need a Pinterest-perfect house or a baby on a nap schedule. My in-home newborn sessions are designed to feel relaxed, personal, and fully guided from start to finish. I bring the calm; you just bring the baby.

NOTE: I only take three newborn sessions a month in order to provide the best experience to my families. While there's sometimes still room for last minute bookings, its best to book before baby is here.

In over a decade photographing newborns across Greater Boston, I've never had a family tell me they regretted booking a session. I've heard plenty say they wish they'd booked sooner.

Imagine holding your child years from now and seeing portraits that take you right back to those first days - the tiny details, the quiet connection, the story of how your family began...

We’re so glad we chose Chelsea for our newborn photos. Her package included in-home wardrobe planning, location scouting, hair and makeup, which was such a confidence boost for this postpartum mama and photo selection support. We didn't have to leave the house, which felt really daunting in the first few weeks postpartum.

She's incredibly professional, detail-oriented, and captured our family (including our inquisitive cats) beautifully. She was flexible when we needed to move our shoot due to our daughter's delay in arrival and made us feel so comfortable during the shoot. We especially loved that she embraced our request for bold, vibrant colors instead of the usual beige baby vibe that's on trend at the moment. I didn't want standard swaddled sleeping baby photos and boy did she deliver. Her documentary style is exactly what I was looking for.

I highly recommend Chelsea for anyone looking for high quality photos to last a lifetime!

We Plan

I know the phone can be scary, but don't worry - it's just a friendly chat! This way I can learn about you and your family, your goals, your style, and what matters most to you.

I’ll come to your home and we'll look at your space, customize the shots, and plan your family's wardrobe. You don’t have to figure out anything yourself!

Your session will be a mix of gently guided moments and natural, documentary magic, so you get variety without stress.

Within two weeks, we'll meet back up in your home and I’ll walk you through your images and help design artwork that fits your home (and your life). I even handle installation!

FAQ's

My baby is already over a week old. Is it too late for a newborn session?

Not at all. In fact, one of the benefits of my relaxed, natural approach is that Baby doesn’t need to be super sleepy or heavily posed. Older newborns are often more alert and expressive, which allows for beautiful connection and interaction.

I photograph newborns up to about 8 weeks old, with 3–5 weeks often being the sweet spot.

My house is small. Can we still do an in-home session?

Absolutely. I’ve photographed families in everything from spacious homes to small Boston condos and apartments. With the right angles, light, and guidance, we can create beautiful images almost anywhere.

What if my home doesn’t have great natural light?

No problem. While I love natural light, I also bring professional lighting that mimics soft daylight when needed. Your images will still feel natural, clean, and beautifully lit.

Do I need to buy outfits or props for Baby?

Not at all. I bring a curated selection of wraps, blankets, simple baby outfits, and accessories for your session. I’ll also guide your family on wardrobe beforehand so everything feels cohesive and effortless.

What do I wear?

Don't worry, you don't have to figure it out on your own. Before your session, we'll have a style and concept consultation where we'll talk through clothing, colors, and the overall look you envision. I'll help coordinate outfits for the whole family so everything feels cohesive without looking overly matched.

Moms also have access to my curated client wardrobe, which includes a selection of beautiful dresses chosen specifically to photograph well and flatter a variety of body types. Whether you choose something from the wardrobe or wear your own clothing, I'll guide you every step of the way so you can feel confident that everything will come together beautifully.

We’re awkward in front of the camera. What do we do?

Almost everyone says this before their session.

You don’t need modeling experience or perfect posing. I’ll guide you naturally throughout the session so you always know what to do while still keeping everything relaxed and genuine.

Are newborn sessions safe?

Absolutely. Baby safety is always my top priority. I’ve been photographing newborns for over 10 years and take a very natural, baby-led approach to every session.

Unlike heavily posed newborn photography, my sessions focus more on connection, comfort, and gentle guidance.

How does the studio experience compare to in-home?

The studio experience is simple, clean, and fully prepared for you when you arrive. It’s a great option for families wanting a more streamlined session with a timeless studio look.

In-home sessions tend to feel more personal and documentary-inspired, capturing your family in the spaces you’ll remember most.

What do we need to bring to the studio?

Very little. The studio is stocked with wraps, blankets, simple baby outfits, and accessories. I’ll also provide wardrobe guidance ahead of time so everything feels coordinated and stress-free. Just bring your diaper bag and we'll handle the rest!

How long does a newborn session last?

Most in-home sessions last around 3-4 hours, depending on Baby’s needs. Sessions are always baby-led, with plenty of time built in for feeding, changing, soothing, and breaks as needed. Studio Session are closer to 60-90 minutes.

There’s never any pressure to rush.

Can siblings or grandparents be included?

Absolutely. Siblings, grandparents and even pets are always welcome if you’d like them included in your session.

What makes this experience different from other Newborn Photographers?
A typical newborn session is a couple of hours with a camera. This one is designed so you get to actually enjoy the process - we plan your shots and wardrobe together beforehand, walk through your home so nothing feels rushed or improvised on the day, and you're photographed looking (and feeling) like yourself, hair and makeup done. Afterward, your images become wall art designed and installed in your home - not just a gallery link you mean to do something with someday. It's less "book a photographer" and more "have someone handle the whole experience, from planning to what's on your walls."

What should we expect to invest?

Newborn sessions begin at $1,490 and include a $1,000 credit to use toward your final purchase. Your total investment will depend on the number of images you choose and the products you’d like to create, such as albums or custom wall art. This allows you to make those decisions after seeing your images rather than committing to a collection before your session. Before booking, we’ll chat by phone about what you’re envisioning so I can walk you through the options and give you a more accurate idea of what to expect for your total investment. For more information view the Pricing Guide.

Why is some Newborn Photography more expensive?

Newborn photography can vary widely in price because photographers offer very different levels of service, experience and finished products. Some sessions are designed primarily to provide digital images, while others include much more support before, during and after your session.

My newborn experience is full-service, which means I help with planning, wardrobe, hair and makeup, photographing your family, professional retouching, image selection and designing finished artwork for your home. We typically meet four times throughout the process: for your style consultation, your session, your ordering appointment and the final delivery. That time together allows me to really get to know your family, understand what matters to you and create something that feels personal from beginning to end.

Rather than handing you a gallery of files and another project for your to-do list, I guide you through the entire process, from planning your session to choosing the photographs and finished pieces you’ll actually enjoy in your home.
